The Study
The Carbon Footprint of websites & measurement tools
FOREWORD
Human activity is driving climate change, forcing all economic actors to reduce their carbon footprint. However, businesses implementing carbon reduction programs face a major challenge: a lack of accurate and reliable data on the carbon "cost" of goods and services, especially digital services.
To help organizations reduce their digital greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, fifty-five is releasing public studies on topics related to its activities: in 2022 on the impact of media campaigns (available here), and today on websites and measurement tools. Our research is based on fifty-five's strong belief that data will be the key success factor in the ecological transformation of businesses, just as it was for digital transformation.
The methodology and results shared in these studies are meant to be enriched by feedback from other market players to collectively refine our beliefs for a more responsible digital world.
